The 7” Touchscreen Monitor for Raspberry Pi & your StakeBox gives users the ability to create all-in-one, integrated projects such as tablets, infotainment systems and embedded projects. The 800 x 480 display connects via an adapter board which handles power and signal conversion. Only two connections to the Pi are required; power from the Pi’s GPIO port and a ribbon cable that connects to the DSI port present on all Raspberry Pis. Touchscreen drivers with support for 10-finger touch and an on-screen keyboard will be integrated into the latest Raspbian OS for full functionality without a physical keyboard or mouse.
These are really useful pieces of kit. The quality is good and the screen very clear. Wiring it up to the Pi is a little bit "fiddly" but nothing daunting and there are guides available on-line. The best bit is that you do not have to rummage through the OS editing config files and installing and loading drivers. Raspbian Jessie runs it, display and touchscreen, "straight out of the box". You would not use this to build a desktop replacement (you wouldn't really use a Pi as a desktop replacement) but wall or desk mounted info boards, monitoring solutions or kiosk type projects now become a whole lot easier. That's my plan anyway. Well worth the price. Get someone special to show they appreciate your inner geek and spoil you this holiday season by buying you one.
