Add The RCA Connectors To The JustBoom DAC Zero pHAT

This guide will show you how to install the two RCA connectors on your JustBoom DAC Zero pHAT.

If you are interfacing with a professional system or a home Hi-Fi chances are that you will need to use RCA leads. Adding these two connectors to your JustBoom DAC Zero will increase its versatility and allow you to enjoy music with high end systems.

Identify on the PCB the location for the two RCA connectors.

On the JustBoom DAC Zero the area reserved for the two RCA connectors is clearly visible as shown in the picture on the left.

You can find suitable RCA connectors for this on our main website.

Step 1 – Place the connectors on the board by making sure that the red connector is on the right side and that the white is on the left next to the headphones connector as shown in the picture.

Step 2 – Rotate the PCB. You can use a sponge underneath so that the RCA connectors are kept in place whilst you are soldering them.

Step 3 – Solder the middle leg of each connector. This will allow you to verify that the connectors are oriented correctly and form a 90° angle with the PCB of the board.

Note: If you have a soldering iron station or one that allows to regulate the temperature of the tip set it to 350°.

Step 4 – Finish soldering the remaining legs on the pads by making sure you are using the right amount of lead as shown on the picture.
